A major revelation about the future of Xbox has surfaced, suggesting that an entirely new generation of consoles is on the horizon, and it’s arriving much earlier than anticipated. According to Tom Henderson of Insider Gaming, a trusted industry insider, the next-gen Xbox console is slated for release in 2026 and will be named Xbox Prime. This aligns with reports from another credible source, The Ghost of Hope, who indicates that this launch will coincide with the release of a next-gen Call of Duty title from Infinity Ward, which has been in secret development for several years.

These insights shed light on Microsoft’s strategic decision not to release a Pro version of the current Xbox. Unlike PlayStation, which has chosen to enhance its current generation with a Pro model, Xbox appears to be channeling its resources into launching the next generation ahead of the PlayStation 6. This approach, reportedly an open secret within the gaming industry, aims to position Xbox Prime as the front-runner in the next-gen console race.

However, this strategy carries potential risks. Releasing the Xbox Prime earlier could backfire if Sony follows with a more powerful PlayStation 6 a year or two later, potentially making the Xbox Prime appear underpowered by comparison. This could influence gamers’ preferences, leaving Xbox at a disadvantage in the long run.

What are your thoughts on this bold move by Microsoft? Will it pay off, or could it leave Xbox trailing behind in the next-gen console battle?
