Fortnite is known for its frequent updates, and the latest one brings back fan-favorite gear like the Hunting Rifle, launch pad, and more. December has been a busy month for Epic Games with Fortnite, as the game has released numerous new skins alongside the annual Winterfest event.
The Winterfest event has returned, blanketing the island in snow and introducing event quests and items like Icy Feet and the Blizzard Grenade. As always, Winterfest offers plenty of rewards for players through the Cozy Cabin, as well as premium skins such as Mariah Carey, Santa Dogg, and Santa Shaq. But the holiday celebrations aren’t the only exciting developments in Fortnite—collaborations with Cyberpunk 2077, Batman Ninja, and others have also been added. Additionally, the game is bringing updates to its OG content, keeping things fresh for longtime fans.
The latest Fortnite hotfix is a minor one, but for longtime fans, it could be more exciting than usual. This surprise update brings the return of Launch Pads to the Fortnite OG mode, a legacy item originally introduced in Chapter 1, Season 1. Launch Pads were the go-to method for traversal before vehicles and other movement-boosting items were added. Players could place them down and launch themselves into the air, giving them the advantage over enemies or offering a quick escape from tricky situations.
Fortnite Brings Back Classic Weapons and Items
- Launch Pad
- Hunting Rifle
- Cluster Clinger
The Launch Pad isn’t the only item making a return to Fortnite. The hotfix also brings back the Hunting Rifle, originally introduced in Chapter 3, giving players a way to deal damage from a distance—something many have missed since sniper rifles were removed in Chapter 6, Season 1. Additionally, Cluster Clingers from Chapter 5 are now available in both Battle Royale and Zero Build, alongside the Hunting Rifle.
Fortnite OG has been a huge success for Epic Games, with 1.1 million players jumping into the mode within just the first two hours of its launch. Alongside the new game mode, Epic has also introduced an OG Item Shop, featuring classic skins and items for purchase. However, not all players are excited about the return of ultra-rare skins, with some expressing frustration over the re-release of items like the Renegade Raider and Aerial Assault Trooper.
