If you’ve been following our updates, you might already know that Minecraft’s bug reporting system is moving to a new platform. But here’s the crucial part—you only have until Friday, February 7, 2025, to migrate your account! After that date, any old accounts that haven’t opted in will not be transferred to the new system.

Bug reports are essential to keeping Minecraft running smoothly, and the migration is meant to streamline the process while improving security. Whether you’re a dedicated bug hunter or just getting started, here’s everything you need to know about the change.

What’s Changing?

Mojang is shifting from its old Jira Server to a new Jira Cloud service for bug tracking. This transition will provide a faster, more user-friendly experience with fewer complications.

  • Deadline: Players must opt in by February 7, 2025, to transfer their account and past bug reports.
  • Downtime: Bug reporting will be temporarily unavailable from February 10 to February 12, 2025 while the migration takes place.
  • Post-Migration Access: If you miss the migration deadline, you’ll need to create a new account on the new platform.

Why the Migration?

The switch is happening because the old bug reporting system is being retired. The new platform will not only simplify the process of submitting bug reports but will also keep multi-factor authentication for added security.

How to Report Bugs in the New System

Never reported a bug before? No worries—it’s easy! Here’s how:

  1. Visit bugs.mojang.com
  2. Log in or sign up for a bug reporting account
  3. Search to see if your bug has already been reported
  4. If it’s new, submit a report with a detailed description
  5. Include steps to reproduce the bug
  6. Attach screenshots if possible

Example:

  • Bug: “Pillagers don’t have arms if they aren’t carrying a crossbow.”
  • Steps to reproduce:
    • Spawn a pillager
    • Switch to spectator mode—notice the missing arms!

Once submitted, the report goes to Mojang’s developers, who work to squash the bug and improve the game.

Final Reminder: Act Now!

If you have a Minecraft bug reporting account, make sure to opt in by February 7, 2025, to save your account and bug reports. The new platform will be available after February 12, so even if you miss the migration, you can still create a new account and keep contributing to the game.
