Ubisoft just confirmed that Far Cry New Dawn is getting a long-awaited 60 FPS update for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. However, the announcement didn’t exactly go as planned.

The Accidental Reveal

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ubisoft admitted that the news leaked earlier than expected, writing, “Well… this wasn’t how we planned to announce this.” Despite the unexpected reveal, it’s great news for fans who have been hoping for a smoother gameplay experience on next-gen hardware.

Temporary FPS Boost Removal on Xbox

To roll out the update properly, Ubisoft will be disabling Xbox’s FPS Boost feature today at 4 PM PST (Feb 1, 0000 UTC). This means players on Xbox Series X|S who relied on FPS Boost for better performance will temporarily lose that option—until the new official 60 FPS patch is live.

PS5 Players Also Get the Upgrade

For once, PlayStation users aren’t left out. Ubisoft confirmed that PS5 players will also receive the 60 FPS update, meaning both platforms will finally get a more fluid experience in Far Cry New Dawn. While it’s unclear exactly when the patch will go live, the fact that it’s officially happening is a win for fans of the game.

A Welcome Upgrade for an Underrated Game

Far Cry New Dawn may not be the most popular entry in the series, but it’s still a solid open-world shooter with a unique post-apocalyptic setting. The addition of 60 FPS support will make the combat and exploration feel much smoother, giving players a good reason to revisit Hope County.
